Volunteers Needed for Gardening Project!!!

The Seeley side of RHS is being treated to a much-needed garden facelift, thanks to the efforts of RHS Board members Joyce Black and Sue Delves, and the Conservation Committee of the Morgan Park Junior Woman's Club. The Junior's were one of 12 applicants (75 groups applied) awarded a grant by the City of Chicago/Green Corps for the beautification of the grounds of RHS. The grant amount of 300 points is to be "spent" on such garden resources as plant materials, tools, soil, compost, and mulch. The value of the items to be provided under the grant is more or less equivalent to $3,000.

A drawing of the RHS site, created by Beverly resident Wendy Schulenberg, a licensed landscape architect, was donated for this project. Her drawing will serve as the basis for a garden design that is being developed, with the assistance of Wendy Schulenberg and the Green Corps horticulturist, Martie Brennan. Also providing invaluable assistance is Joyce Black, Chair of the Conservation Conmiittee; Simone McNeill, a member of the Conservation Committee; and Sue Delves.

Needless to say, this project cannot be completed without the help of volunteers. W We ask that you recruit your able-bodied children, grandchildren, neighbors and friends to join in what promises to be a most rewarding experience. Homemade snacks and refreshments will be provided for the volunteers. You won't be disappointed.

Donations of plant materials and gardening tools are also welcome. Call Sue Delves at 773-445-5806 for more information.
